Reading is an enjoyable pleasure for many people.  However, for some, reading has become a challenge due to vision problems.  There is a way that one who has vision issues can still indulge in the pleasure of reading.  The Library of Congress Talking Book program is a free national program.  Novels, nonfiction materials, magazines, and other recreational reading materials are produced on digital cartridges.  The materials and machine are on loan through local libraries.  Prairie Creek Public Library is a participating library in the Talking Book program.  We would like to encourage you, or if you know of someone, who is unable to read regular print to come into the library and see a demonstration of the Talking Book machine and all that is associated with it.

There is also a website, http://www.illinoistalkingbooks.org , that anyone can visit to learn more information regarding this program.
