Prairie Creek Public Library’s Picture Book Reading Challenge is for any students who are beginning readers or have books read to them. Read any picture book that fits into that category for the month. You can choose your own or pick a book from the gazebo in the children’s library. When you’ve finished your book, return it to the library and fill out a raffle ticket.

Picture Book Reading Challenge
January: How about the weather? – Read a fiction book where the weather plays a key role in the story or a non-fiction book giving information about the weather.
February: VIPS – Read a children’s biography about someone who interests you.
March: Heavy Duty – Read a fiction or non-fiction book about construction or any large vehicle.
April: Blooming Readers – Read a fiction book or non-fiction book about flowers or gardening.
May: It’s Yummy – Read a book that involves food.
June: Fun in the Sun – Read a book involving outdoor activities.
July: Our Heroes – Read a book about veterans or first responders.
August: Favorite Characters – Read a book that includes a classic character, like Curious George or Franklin.
September: Harvest Days – Read a book about farming or farms.
October: Fall Fun – Read a fiction or non-fiction book about fun in the fall, like apple picking or Halloween.
November: DiNovember – Read a fiction or non-fiction book about dinosaurs.
December: Snow Much Fun – Read a book with snow.

January: Around the World – Read a fiction or non-fiction book set in or about another country.
February: Friends Forever – Read a book that includes good friends, like Baby-Sitters Club.
March: It’s Magic – Read a book about a magical or imaginary character, like a mermaid or dragon.
April: Laughter is the Best Medicine – Read a humorous book.
May: It’s Yummy – Read a book that involves food.
June: Epic Adventures – Read any book about outdoor activities.
July: Weird Science – Read a non-fiction book on any kind of science.
August: The Story Goes – Read a famous story, like a classic, fairy tale, or folk tale.
September: In the Old Days – Read a book published before you were born.
October: Bumps in the Night – Read a book that is a little scary!
November: Furry Friends – Read any book about animals.
December: Toys & Games – Read a non-fiction book about any toy or game.
